Hollies Hill

3 miles. Start/finish: The Holly Bush pub, Bromsgrove rd, DY9 9UG off the A491 near Belbroughton. Terrain is good but can be muddy in wet weather, through fields and bridleways. Some steep sections. Short distances on minor roads. A short section along the footpath beside a main road. All footpaths followed are clearly marked or signposted.

From the car park of the Holly Bush (A) turn right and head towards Hagley following the footpath beside the A491. Go over the stile (B) and take the footpath. Cross the field and stile, turn right and walk a short distance along the road until the stile and next footpath are reached on the left. Follow this path across the field to the footbridge and then veer slightly to the right until a fence is reached. Cross the fence (C), ignoring the path that crosses left and right of here, and walk across the field heading for Walton House (D).

The path exits the field at an opening in the hedge into a road. Turn right at the road and walk until the farm track/bridleway is reached on your right (E). Follow this bridleway as it climbs and affords superb views of Worcestershire to the south. Ignore the track on the right and carry straight on. The path passes a wood on the left and a boulder that is marked as originating from North Wales. It was carried by a glacier during the last ice age. The bridleway turns right and passes a windpump (F). The concreted path descends rapidly. At the second cattle grid take the path to the right (G). This small path then meets another bridle path known as Munches Lane.

At this point turn right and follow the bridle path, which can get muddy in wet weather,  through the attractive wooded cutting until it descends and meets the small road. Turn right and you are once again at the Holly Bush.
