6.25 miles. An easy-to-follow circular walk, following quiet roads and two footpaths with no mud so it is ideal for a winter day. Starting from Chaddesley Corbett DY10 4SD
From the car park of the Swan (a) turn right towards St Cassian’s Church. Turn right into the churchyard and follow the footpath around the left of the church leaving through the gate onto the A448 where you will turn right. Continue walking along the pavement, crossing the brook and past the village hall. On the other side of the road you will see the entrance to Brockencote Hall then a black and white building and a footpath. Carefully cross the road (b) and take this footpath until it meets Dobes Ln which you will continue along. At the road junction (c), turn right into Cakebole Ln. Follow the lane as it weaves across pretty countryside, crossing Elmley Brook and eventually meeting a road on the left (d) which you will ascend to the hamlet of Rushock. At the top of the rise there is a bench which is a good place to rest and enjoy the excellent views. Behind you is St Michael and All Angels Church and its cemetery where legendary Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham is buried. Continue to follow the lane, past the village hall and gradually descend with impressive houses on either side. Turn left (e) into Park Ln and enjoy the views until you reach Clattercut Ln (f) where you will turn left and then right into Purshull Green Ln (g). Take the dead end lane on the left (h) that leads to Purshull Green. You will pass a large stone to your right that marks the site where a bomb landed in 1940. There is a butchers shop in Purshull Green on the right but you will be taking the tarmac path (i) to the left. A short distance from here there is a pretty pond. At the end of the track (j) turn right into Clattercut Ln. Follow the lane, listening out for traffic until you pass the entrance to a cattery and kennels on your left. Immediately after is a lane to a cottage that has an avenue of trees along it (k) and that is the path you will take. Do not be tempted to continue to the A448 as this a busy road with no pavement. The path leaves the tarmac lane to the right (l) and weaves in and out of conifers. Cross the stile and head diagonally across the grass to the right with the racecourse on your left. Head just to the left of the metal gate (which is locked) towards the green building (the garden centre) on the other side of the A448. Walk parallel to the hedge until you meet the gap where there is a stile you will step over (m). Carefully cross the A448 and turn left. You will pass the Rowberry’s Garden Centre/Cafe and the Fox Inn. Then turn right and follow the road (n) back into Chaddesley Corbett.
